Easter for nature friends has always been that time when you go out to watch birds. This year the Estonian Ornithology Society invites all to join the Easter birdwatch that is held on April 7th and 8th. Taking part in the birdwatching - an event that started already in 1998 - is wonderfully simple: it can be done in your home garden or city park, when driving about in Estonia or walking with your family at the seaside. And it can be done alongside other chores.
We ask you to note all birds that you see and hear and for which you are quite sure about the identification, also to try to estimate their approximate numbers. Please keep in mind that if there are doubts about the identification of a species - whether it might be one or the other kind? - then leave that species undetermined.
We will prepare a preliminary summary of the Easter birdwatch for midweek next week. To be able to do this we ask you to send your observation results if possible before Monday evening, April 9
th, by e-mail to:
tarvo.valker@eoy.ee.
All observation results are expected on April 13th at the latest. The easiest way to submit the results is by e-mail:
tarvo.valker@eoy.ee , using the enclosed questionnaire form.
The Easter Birdwatching form can be printed on paper and sent by ordinary post too, address Estonian Ornithological Society, Veski 4, 51005 Tartu.
Happy springtime bird experiences!
You will find the birdwatching form on the home page of the Estonian Ornithological Society:
