Savi’s warbler
Today was a rather dull bird day. Staying to watch at Põõsaspea in the morning came to nothing since the weather was foggy and visibility non-existent. So the bird spots on the north-western coast got an inspection. No one in particular was to be seen. The most exciting observation of the day came at Saunja bay where a flock of 70 oystercatchers was flying about. Such a large migration flock of oystercatchers is not an everyday sight. Of new species I saw the wryneck in Spitham and Pürksi, and in the reed banks at sea at Sutlepa the Savi’s warbler was chirping and a wood warbler was busy in a bush beside the bird tower there. My 2012 year list now has 197 bird species.
