Maple flowering
True phenological spring begins with the flowering of maples.
A springtime maple in full flower is a sight worth seeing with its golden-green flowers. When there is even just a little warmth in daytime we also hear the humming of bees from the trees; oblivious of all else they collect both nectar and the greenish pollen. In fair weather a large tree can secrete up to a pail of honey.
