It is the peak period of spring migration and the weather is really good for birdwatching.
Puhtu bird tower
The Estonian Ornithological Society organises a bird tower birdwatch this year too on May 20, the last Sunday but one in May. The event aims to offer all a chance to visit bird towers, and arranged so that the birds seen will not remain unknown even if you haven’t perfect binoculars or a thorough knowledge of birds. The event was started last spring, and the first time there were instructors at 13 watching towers and more than 100 visitors.
On May 20th, the guides in the listed bird towers look forward to meet visitors. They will help you to identify birds and tell about bird life in the surrounding area In addition to getting introduced to our winged friends, a species list will be set up at each site and at the end of the day we will find out the most bird-rich bird tower of the day.
The birdtower watch is on Sunday, May 20, between 5.00 am and 1.00 pm. The exact times for the event is decided by the instructors at each tower on registration.
All interested parties are welcome to the bird towers at the times announced by the guides. If you want to visit a tower you need not register in advance but we ask you to please come to the tower at full hours.
We ask the birdwatching instructors to please forward the results of the tower watches already on the same evening, by 6 pm at latest, by e-mail: tarvo.valker@eoy.ee.
