Green bush cricket    Harilik lauluritsikas      Tettigonia cantans

The green bush cricket lives in mainland Estonia. These large (body length up to nearly three and a half centimetres and wings only a few millimetres shorter than the body length) green-coloured crickets can be heard nearly everywhere except in the depths of forests. Corn fields, hayfields, road and forest margins, forest clearings, wooded meadows, sparsely wooded parks – habitats suitable for the common green bush-cricket are many. When singing the cricket can sit on a plant or bush or even in a tree. The song is a strong chirping and, presented from a tree, carries particularly far.
