Bird cherry
From the flowers that were pollinated when the bird cherry flowered black and glossy berries have ripened.
Bird cherry fruits are edible, sour-tasting, with a high Vitamin C content and quite beneficial for the organism, rich in tannins, making make the mouth feel „thick“ on eating them.
Each fruit contains a large drupe with a rock-hard shell – „seed“ in common talk. The content of the so-called seed is poisonous. But if we happen to swallow such a seed “stone” nothing horrible will happen – the „stone“ does not disintegrate in our stomach.
