It was a slightly quieter day at Mehikoorma today, we managed to count altogether about 330 000 passerines. Only a week ago such a day would have caused excitement for a long time but now we are already used to considerably larger daily totals and today seemed even a little boring. In six days at least 2,5 million migrant birds have come across the Lämmijärve, the great majority of the mass as before chaffinches. Throughout the week the weather has remained largely the same, the wind mostly from southwest. For the weekend easterly winds are promised and that might bring a noticeable change in the migration. Maybe somewhat larger things begin moving too, cranes and geese for instance.
