Yellow-browed warbler, visitor from Siberia (Kabli 26.09.2012)

At the Kabli bird station a great milling broke loose at once in the morning. More than 800 birds got into the nets and the great bird trap during the day. All birds were ringed and could then continue their migration. The large majority of the birds were goldcrests (Regulus regulus) and  long-tailed tits (Aegithalos caudatus), but the day did not pass without a rarity. Early in the morning a yellow-browed warbler (Phylloscopus inornatus)got into the trap. This visitor from Siberia has now been seen 3 times in Estonia this autumn – in Kabli another individual was ringed a few days ago and a bird was photographed in Tartumaa in  Mehikoorma. The yellow-browed warbler was not in my Estonian list at all until now. I have seen the species in its wintering areas in south-eastern Asia but in Estonia I have managed to pass it by. At last the fault was corrected, the yellow-browed warbler is the  311th bird species in my list of species seen in Estonia, and at the same time the 270th species in my 2012 year list.
