Goldcrest with colour anomaly (Sõrve säär 02.10.2012)

After several days the weather at Sõrve säär was relatively calm and clear at last. But it also meant that ringing was hard work. In four hours I ringed 414 birds, 349 of whom were goldcrests  (Regulus regulus). The remainder were tits, robins, warblers and other suchlike. A goldcrest with peculiar looks also came into the net, with white primaries and tail feathers and an overall yellow colour. Such leucistic or partly albinotic individuals always occur. In the Estbirding gallery of colour deviations all kinds of creatures can be seen.
A report came from Kihnu island that today nearly 1000 sparrowhawks (Accipiter nisus) were seen there on migration! The fair weather got the migration going. There is more detailed information in the project blog, in English and with many photos.
