Mistle thrush
Back at Sõrve säär. The weather was windy and rainy, so the nets stayed closed today, and no ringing got done. But regardless of the poor weather a quite powerful migration went on. We counted altogether 10600 wood pigeons (Columba palumbus), stock doves (Columba oenas) 141, sparrowhawks (Accipiter nisus) 115, buzzards (Buteo buteo) 49, chaffinches (Fringilla coelebs) 70000, mistle thrushes (Turdus viscivorus) 245, wood larks (Lullula arborea) 85; among late migrants there was 1 oystercatcher (Haematopus ostralegus) at Loode. Today we also had a little competition with the Rönnskär bird station in the Gulf of Finland about where the greatest number of species would be registered. This time the Sõrve säär bird station won, we saw 95 species, at Rönnskär bird station 71 species were registered.
