Migrating flock of barnacle geese
Finally a slightly drier day at Sõrve säär. At once in early morning (that is in the dark) a strong geese migration got going and during the day at least more than 26000 Branta geese and geese were counted. The wood pigeons moved nicely too, more than 9000 during the day. Among late leavers today 1 red-breasted flycatcher was notable and from the net 2 reed warblers came. Once again in a long period the nets were open again the whole day and 171 birds were ringed. What happens at Sõrve säär can be read more in detail in the Sõrve bird station diary.
A strong goose migration today went on at Kihnu island too. Who were seen there can be read in the Kihnu migration project blog.
