Brent goose, about ten birds have been staying at Sõrve säär for a quite long period (13.10.2012)
A rather dull day at Sõrve säär. No particular migration was noticeable. Only the movements of crow family birds were significant – hundreds of
jackdaws (
Corvus monedula) and
hooded crows (
Corvus corone cornix) headed for the sea, in addition to some smaller extent also
rooks (
Corvus frugilegus) and
ravens (
Corvus corax). The most exciting species of the day was evidently a
penduline tit (
Remiz pendulinus) (1 individual migrating) that is quite seldom seen at Sõrve säär. Although the nets were open for most of the day only 59 birds could be caught and ringed. But the result of a dull bird day was still 99 encountered species, a nice yield.
