The lie of a sow with three or four young boars

The lies of a wild boar herd in a forest coppice. Led by the big sow thirteen individuals move together. The lies are located at a distance of about thirty to seventy metres from each other, always keeping awareness of threats in mind, at a visible and audible distance.

In this lie two adult sows with two young boars have slept

So properly the ground is insulated with branches, so that there should be no danger of cold, using „local materials“. The pharmacy is at some unknown distance and for treatment healing plants are used at need – the boars know them well because their sense of smell is extremely well developed.

The lie of an adult sow and three-four piglets from the previous spring.

A large sow weighs eighty to a hundred kilos, and young male boar wannabees have again joined the flock; they were driven off during the mating period by the adult male boar that mated with the sows, and had to cope on their own during that time.

How do the wild boar spend their day ?
