Birch sap flowing

 

By today birches should be yielding sap all over Estonia already.

 

Early spring starts with the sap flow of birches and the melting of snow. Very soon the hazel and grey alder are about to start flowering. Developments now change fast, even the weather can change in a moment. This year’s winter refused to end and delayed the arrival of early spring by almost a couple of weeks.

 

Phenological spring in nature begins with the flowering of the maple but there is still some time left until then.
