Curious young white-tailed eagles

Linda and Sulev had visitors. Presumably a pair of young white-tailed eagles (white tail feathers common to adult birds were not spotted) circled near the nest. Sulev was brooding and Linda came by to „complain“. The birds announced loudly that the territory is already occupied. Linda stayed at the nest and Sulev went to discipline the strangers. It seems that this was enough – peace at home was restored.

The Väinameri (Straits Sea) is covered with fast ice, but in spite of that, Sulev has carried several fish to the nest – even today. One possibility is that dead fish have melted out from sea ice; also, the rapid sections of rivers are free of ice and fish is already moving there. On such sections, we may currently meet also other bird besides white-tailed eagles - seagulls, grey herons, goosanders and also great cormorants if the sea is not too far away.
