Klaara must feed and take care of two owlets. During the last few days the owlets are left more and more on their own, they are being “hardened”, but the main thing is that the food demand has increased. Male Klaus is hunting and probably signals when Klaara can come to fetch the prey. We are accustomed to see mainly all kinds of rodents on the tawny owls’ menu, on Sunday evening even a water vole was brought in. This year is a poor mouse year and often we can see a frog in Klaara’s beak; the dinner table is clearly meagre.
