Early on Wednesday morning a couple of grey seals were in place and their number increased during the whole day. The third event of the year, in order of importance, remains. From the end of February birthing started. After a few weeks, towards the end of lactation, the females came into heat and the seal pups must from that point onwards manage on their own. As usual in May there is gathering in colonies to shed the  fur – the weather is warmer, in the meantime they have fed well, and during about one month the grey seals’ annual fur renewal takes place; the coat pattern remains the same.
