Wood anemones in different colours gleam on forest floors, but here and there a star-shaped flower grows too – the yellow star of Bethlehem. This lily relative likes being near people, it can be found in the garden lawn but also in deciduous forests. The star of Bethlehem is as the embodiment of spring – ethereal and fragile, with narrow leaves and a number of brilliant flowers on the top of a slender stalk.
Look around, where the star of Bethlehem grows often another early spring flowerer is found too – the bird-in-a-bush (Corydalis solida; Corydalis cava).
