Marsh marigold
A somewhat peculiar creature, this marsh marigold, growing with its feet in water. Habitats are wet meadows and banks of waters. It is a good time for it to flower now because there is still sufficient moisture but the excessive flood water is receding. Usually it is not possible to come close to them without rubber boots.
The Estonian name “varsakabi”, horseshoe, refers to the shape of the leaves. It is not a favourite of animals, because marsh marigold is slightly poisonous and cattle will not eat it.
