First chick hatched for Eha and Koit

From morning onwards the tiny lesser spotted eagle chick worked at the eggshell, and at five o’clock the day’s work was done and the egg hatched. Female eagle Eha spent the greater part of the incubation period on the nest; Koit took care of food for the table, and when necessary replaced Eha when wings needed stretching. The first egg was laid in the evening of May 3rd, so a small calculation and the incubation period turns out to have been 39 days.

Congratulations to the lesser spotted eagles!
