A little before 11.30 am Urmas and Renno from the Eagle Club (Kotkaklub) were at the nest of black stork pair Tiina and Tiit. The forum members call the storklets Miiko and Liina. On hearing movements in the forest the storklets fell silent and froze in place.

The storklets have their rings on the feet, and a migrating butterfly, the poplar admiral, tanks up on mineral substances in the nest
And so the ring numbers:
For the older 712L and A10139
For the smaller 712M and A10140 (on right leg)
Urmas took along the eggs remaining in the nest for investigations; ringing and measuring proceeds quickly and painlessly when performed by „pros“. Task accomplished and camera lens cleaned, they could leave the nest without “getting caught” by the adult birds.
The ringed storklets quickly recovered from the fright and when both adults arrived with food barely half an hour after the ringing the pleasures rapidly made them forget all previous events...
We will not show the ringing video - the reason is simple: the view of the whole process was blocked by the ringer because the nest cannot be easily approached from any other direction.
