We promised to have weekly surveys from Osprey webcam 2 (Kalakotkakaamera-2) because there are so big differences in the ages of the osprey chicks.

 

Male Ilmar manages to feed the family successfully, female Irma spends most of her time in the nest with the chicks, who have got names from the forum members:

Kaido is the biggest, hatched on June 15th.

The middle one is called Kenno, hatched on June 17th.

The smallest, Kaari, did not hatch until on June 20th in the evening.

 

In an osprey nest chicks of different ages are common. The adults feed them carefully, checking that all get fed if only there is enough fish. By the time when both adults must go out to get fish for the chicks that have grown big, the difference in size is no longer so noticeable; the strongest or most skilful gets what is brought.
