Tansy
Ray florets, such as those of the ox-eye daisy and yellow chamomile, seem to be lacking at the edge ... The disc florets of the tansy are placed in the basket-like “flowers” (capitulas). The leaves resemble those of a pinnately lobed (feather-like) fern.
It is a perennial herb, with a strong rhizome and rather short runners. Thus it multiplies vegetatively and with time forms large and interconnected aggregates.
Modern medicine does not recommend the use of tansy, but it has been collected for medical purposes in earlier times. The Estonian plant name, soolikarohi, „gut herb“, refers to attempts to get rid of intestinal parasites. Crushing the herb between the fingers produces an aromatic smell of camphor that reminds of “sickroom odours”.
