One reason for the exceptionally clear water of the Äntu Sinijärv are the large springs at the bottom of the lake. The upper part of the outlet of the underwater spring in the photo has a diameter of 5-7 meters. If the water temperature in the surface layers is up to 16 degrees on a normal summer day then at the spring and inside it generally does not exceed 6 degrees. Because of the large temperature differences the Äntu Sinijärv is a good place to learn about the thermocline phenomenon.
 
 
 Trees fallen into the water create surrealistic views for divers to admire but are also good refuges for fish.
 
 
Sadly there are also people who do not know how to appreciate this beauty and who kill everything that crosses their path only to satisfy their hunting passion. How otherwise to explain the 34 centimetres long pike carcass with obvious harpoon marks left lying about on the lake bottom...
