The book is written by Kristel Vilbaste

 

It is based on the collections of Gustav Vilbaste and on the Estonian Folklore Archives at the Estonian Literary Museum, where the recollections of many Estonians have been stored already since 150 years. From thousands of springs the author has selected 80 special and important ones, trying to sift out those which people actually visit. These springs she calls „folk springs“, places where the paths leading to them have not become overgrown with grass. Another basic selection principle has been the aspect that there should be a nearby spring to discover, wherever you move in Estonia. The book was released in August and is now on sale in bookstores.
