Chicken of the woods or sulphur shelf (Laetiporus sulphreus) on oak
The Estonian Fund for Nature, Eestimaa Looduse Fond (ELF) invites all interested parties to help make the first Estonian jointly created virtual tree-living fungi exposition. To take part in the making of the exposition you only need to notice a tree fungus, photograph it and send the photo to ELF.
Photos of all tree fungi that can be seen both in city parks and in old forests are welcome: on fully vital trees as well as dead ones. The aim of the exposition is to draw attention to the richness of biological life in Estonian forests, to the different tree-living fungi and the habitats that they need. Explanations to the submitted photos will be given by ELF forest expert Indrek Sell.
Your photos should be submitted by October 1st at the latest, e-mail address:
Please be sure to include author’s name, and place and date of the photo.
Tree fungi photographed on springtime or summer walks in forests and parks are also welcome. The photos of fungus discoveries may be made by mobile phone as well as a camera.
From the photos received by ELF a virtual show will be put up on our web page and on Facebook. As a small token of gratitude the authors will learn more about what tree fungus has been caught in the author’s photo as a small token of appreciation (if the species can be determined from the photo) and why it is interesting or eyecatching. In addition a prize draw will be made among those who have submitted photos, with surprise prizes suited to the theme.
