"Changing Estonian nature" in Tartu Kaubamaja

The photos show Toolse Castle, once owned by the knights of the Teutonic Order, in the 1930ies. After World War II neither men nor cattle were allowed by the Soviet border guards to enter the northern coast. The shores started to become widely overgrown with reeds. The high concentration of nutrients in the Baltic and the warm winters with little ice have contributed.

Skilled nature observer and photographer Rein Kuresoo has photographed and sought out for the exhibition images of 12 natural landscapes of today as well as from archives and added appropriate explanations.
A visitor to the Tartu Kaubamaja shopping centre will find the exhibition on the third floor. Until November 14th it is possible to study the exhibition „Changing Estonian nature“, arranged by the Estonian Fund for Nature (ELF), that helps us to see a glimpse of the changes in nature during a century.
