"Yellowfoot"
The late-autumn mushroom period brought sufficient moisture and warmth for the mushrooms. Six months of temperatures higher than ordinary but the drought finished just a few weeks back.
Worthwhile looking for in conifer and mixed forests, and they are sometimes found in really great clusters.
The Finns for instance value this mushroom higher than our favourites, the yellow chanterelles, Cantharellus cibarius.
A forest trip is always worthwhile.
Translator's note: The common names above are also used for Cantharellus lutescens, very similar-looking particularly when young, but growing in more humid habitats.
