Common raven     Ronk ehk kaaren       Corvus corax

Long time ago, ravens were only attached to great forests, but nowadays these extremely intelligent birds can cope anywhere. Our ravens are mostly non-migratory birds and they are here all-year-round, however, there are plenty of „immigrants“ in the winter and the raven population could increase up to ten times in some years – reaching up to 40 000 birds.

Female and male birds have similar plumages and the pairs stay together throughout the year. Old adult males are slightly bigger than the rest, weighing up to 1,5 kg-s. Ravens are about 65 centimeters in length. The black plumage glows a metal bluish shade in the sun, tip of the tail is characteristically wedge-like. One can hear the sounds of ravens through the webcam during daytime – klong – klong.
