Solitary male boars can be seen moving around on their own: evidently in some herds the heat period of the sows has ended. The ”brush” under the belly as well as the splendid tusks can be seen when the animals are closer to the camera. The boar that had grown used to visit the feeding ground with the sows must now be clearly more cautious when he is moving around alone.
Boars have a very well developed sense of hearing; strange and especially unexpected sounds quickly set the animals in motion. An excellent sense of smell ensures a bellyful of food throughout the year, and provides information about the presence and moves of brethren and enemies: a boar that arrives on the feeding ground checks audibly sniffing the whole range of smells. The sight of wild boars is poorer than that of humans.
