I am happy to announce that the home page of the Bird of the year, the kingfisher, is open:

You can see what is planned for this year, read about the kingfisher, see beautiful photos and interesting videos and much more.

 

One of the most important activities this year will again be to gather information about observations of the Bird of the year. The simplest way is to note mark your kingfisher observations on the map on the Bird of the year homepage through the dedicated application created for this. It can also be used in smartphones.

During the year we look forward to all observations, made since November 1st 2013 until the end of the year. Even older interesting encounters can be reported to:

Better acquaintance with the kingfisher can be made already on Monday January 20th at 20.05, in ETV (Estonian Television) programme Osoon*: nature photographer Sven Zacek talks about the kingfisher and his own experiences. On Wednesday at 18 o’clock a nature night will take place in the Tartu Loodusmaja where the kingfisher will be presented. Admission is free. If you yourself will be arranging a public nature night or other event on a kingfisher theme, please let us know and we will add it to the calendar on the home page of the Bird of the Year.
