The winter garden bird watch is the largest citizen knowledge project in Estonia. Last year over 2 500 bird enthusiasts participated.
Taking part is very simple: during the last weekend of January just find a free hour, go out into your home garden or a park and note the bird species that you see there. The first observation day is on Friday so that school students can watch winter birds together – an excellent chance to learn about winter garden birds..

The data collected in the winter garden bird census are used to monitor changes in the numbers of our winter birds. If needed this allows us to take steps to improve the well-being of birds. Entries by way of the electronic observation questionnaire can be made starting in the morning of January 24th:
