Grain-fatballs
We had been offering the so-called regular fatballs in addition to sunflower seeds in the winter for birds for already a few years in our country home near Elva and they were also gratefully accepted by the feathered friends. But as a producer of winter bird feed I received feedback from the customers that fatballs become rock solid with great colds and it is difficult for the birds to get food out of them. As a result of testing, in the great summer of 2009, in August, I hung a ball mesh into the lilac bush in my country home – after a few minutes the great spotted woodpecker was feasting on it. The balls were also named after the woodpecker. In addition to woodpeckers, also Eurasian jays and some other wintery visitors prefer grain fatballs.
This year has offered bird experiences looking at the bird feeder, which is filled with grain balls, through the window of the country home and seeing the grey-headed woodpecker together with the great spotted woodpecker and a joint-visit by the grey-headed woodpecker and the spotted nutcracker.
For the fifth year, food for the visitors of the winter bird feeder webcam is being provided by Balsnack. Take a look what is being produced and packaged for the birds: LINK
