Of course it is pure pleasure for the fliers to let themselves be carried closer to the nesting places by the quite strong winds from the south.
The calendar only shows the last week of February yet. Regardless of the severity of the winter usually at this time we meet only some solitary starlings; lapwings and skylarks we have been expecting at the end of the first March week as average over the years. In the last few days however the last-named have been encountered all over Estonia. The weather forecast services promise severe winter weather in March, the newly arrived must fly back towards south then.
Who lives will see – the winter-spring weather is changeable in extreme and already for a week the air does not smell of February any longer.
