We could be quite certain only a few minutes after 7 o’clock in the evening

 

 

 

Towards morning when Klaara arrived in the nest, it was to happen, and her  behaviour and other marks indicated that she had laid an egg half past 6 – she held her body higher and turned very gently. The first egg after a year is still a little miracle even for an experienced owl mother.

 

We might expect the next egg in the nest  on Thursday; we will talk about the rhythm of egg-laying then.

 

 

 

At about half past six the egg flashed into sight from under Klaara’s wing for the first time.
