Two eggs in Irma's nest?

Screencap Riitta, LK forum

Nest material has been lavishly heaped during the last few days, and we have to guess from her behaviour.

Last year the interval between eggs was 4 days. It seems as if the second egg were in the nest since Monday night; we noticed the ”nest egg” on the evening of May 3rd. Will there be more, mostly ospreys have 2-3 eggs?

The incubation period of ospreys is long – up to 40 days but more about that another time.

Life in the nest runs peacefully, the early spring ”strange females” have vanished on their own journeys. The conflicts were symbolic. Of course Ilmar and Irma had to get used to each other – after all they hadn’t seen each other since last year.

When Ilmar arrives with some prey intended for Irma in the nest she is allowed to leave for her meal and Ilmar takes over the care of the nest until her return.
