Padis

Padis ja Donna
Padis and Donna are seen from the other side.

Donna and Padis are peacefully brooding, intruders having been given sufficient resistance that they no longer try to disrupt the nest or take possession of the eggs. The eggs should hatch in about three weeks.

Padis is Donna's mate's name. We received more than 40 ideas from Estonia, Russia, Latvia, Finland, Poland, Germany, France, England, the USA, and Canada. In some cases we were unable to determine from which country the letters came. Thanks to everyone who submitted a name!

Padis was suggested only one time, but this seemed the most appropriate name to our crew, and we send our greetings and thanks to Padis' "godfather" Olev. We're sending him the DVD, "Estonian Eagle ABCs."

There are two village names in Estonia, one called Madise and another Padise. We don't believe those happened by themselves, so perhaps a reader can shed some light on the subject?

In all cases, the village of Padise is located in an ancient fortress named Vanalinnamägi (Old Town Hill) which was the center of the district even before the time of the vikings.

Padis was hatched in that area just seven years ago.
