As we told some days ago, Hubert (the stag with the largest antlers) will be joined for winter by a ”bachelor gang”. Today two more youngish individuals have joined.
For a couple of windless nights a peculiar ”clatter” has been heard in the new Sony camera’s microphone – in the video everything can now be seen and heard: how the younger deer boys test antlers between themselves. Hubert is of course the most experienced and the ”boss” whom the younger adjust to.
For now we can be content with the image from the new Sony camera, the infrared light is not visible to the animals, that can be seen from their behaviour.

After midnight a deer cow appeared on the feeding place with her calf, probably from this spring. Adult cows weigh around a hundred kilos so the calf still has a bit to go to the round number. Cow calves from this spring become independent in the spring after next but it will still be more than a year to sexual maturity then.
