The deer matings in Saaremaa ended in the first half of October. Serious contenders had their own ”harems”  which smaller and younger ones were not allowed to come close to.

 

Female deer (hinds) move in ”ladies groups” the year round. Stags gather in ”bachelor gangs” by and by, one month or one and a half after the mating period when passions have cooled off, and the groups remain together until August in the following year.
