On Monday, December 15th, at the Nature Night beginning at 18.00 at the Estonian National Library in Tallinn, the Animal of the Year 2015 will be officially proclaimed. It will be the boar.
The pre-Christmas Nature Night is dedicated to the animals of the year – the ringed seal (2014) and the boar (2015).
Mart Jüssi will talk about the ringed seal in the Baltic and showphotos. Editor-in-chief of magazine Loodusesõber Helen Arusoo gives an overview of the collecting of ringed seal tales.
In the second part of the evening the Animal of the Year 2015 – the boar – will be proclaimed.
Aleksei Turovski talks about and sketches the boar, its friends and family. Tõnis Korts from the Estonian Hunters’ Association presents the relations between the boar and hunters. Ago Pärtel, Director General of the Estonian Veterinary and Food Board (Veterinaar- ja Toiduamet) reviews swine fever and its spread.
There will be a direct transmission from the forest – the Wild Boar Camera, or Pig Camera, commented by Looduskalender’s Gennadi Skromnov.
The musicians at the Nature Night, Astrid Böning-Nõlvak (song, chromatic zither), Eike Vellend (viola, song) ja Enno Lepnurm (cello) present their new record "Jõulud jõudvad – Christmas coming". Traditional Christmas songs as "Iial ei helise kellad", "Oh kuusepuu", "Õues tähis taevatelk", "Maa on nii kaunis", "Üle lume lagedale" and more.
