Rare breeding bird in our large bogs whom we can with luck meet the year round at their territories: the Alam-Pedja Nature Reserve, Soomaa National Park, around Tuhu or Avaste bogs … About 60 pairs are breeding here, the winter numbers are up to a couple of hundred individuals. While we in October still met this magnificent bird flying about with the juvenile, now the young already live on their own. Not rarely we can meet them at the seashore too: the golden eagle juveniles in addition to the usual white-tailed eagles. Arne’s photo shows the characteristic white wing patches and tail base of a young bird. It is worthwhile to be alert on the coast.
