Sunset
This year’s calendar autumn ends with black ground and not even the moon is to be seen in the sky. On December 22nd calendar winter begins; the hope of a white Christmas remains.
The sun has reached the southernmost point of its journey. Day length is just a few minutes over 6 hours. Outside, an hour of morning and evening dusk are added – so the length of night is 16 hours.
In southern Estonia daylight lasts almost a quarter of an hour longer than on the coast of the Gulf of Finland and on the western islands too the day is just a little longer than on the shore of Lake Peipsi.
