On this Thursday somewhere ”the first seal pup” should have been born – so experience of many years of monitoring seals says, both of ringed and gray seals. The ice situation this year in the Väinamere (Sea of Straits) is not favourable for the pupping of ringed seals, but winter has not left us yet.
The seawater level in front of the camera is about half a metre above the usual, the waves have changed the shore in camera view. Air and water temperature are both a little above 3 degrees.
When the water level falls the grays will soon be on shore, we can only wish for more sunshine necessary for the transmission of the image.
