VIDEO: Does the camera show the same place?

At a first glance it might seem that the position of the camera has been changed. But actually it is Neptune’s will that we see the seal colony from another angle. The southwestern storms of recent weeks combined with a high water level which created a powerful cross-shore wave and rollings at the shoreline have formed a ”new”  peninsula – in front of the camera the beach has been washed away and ”settled down” somewhat further away.

Seals do not like steep slopes, not because it is more uncomfortable to crawl up but because you cannot see on leaving the water if conditions on the beach are safe – because of this a low shore with a view is preferred.

The touring  of the white-tailed eagles has been seen earlier too; their interest in controlling the area only grows. Certainly quite a few grays leisurely swimming in the water have felt the sharp claws of a WTE – so better to be a little wary than to have to lick wounds. The eagles know that the seals have started pupping, something edible may turn up too.

Let us hope that the solar panels manage to keep the camera working, then we can describe events as they happen.

On January 2nd  Airras, LK forum, captured this image. This was the shoreline 2 ½  weeks ago.
