The forest isn’t as full of fox tracks as it was only a few years ago, mange has decimated the track rows of the foxes.
On coming across tracks of females in an open space you can see that they are urinating ”rust”, and such a track interests the males interested makes them follow the female. The snow is icy, fresh only in places which makes reading the track book more difficult.

Already in a week we will see such paired tracks more often. Signs in nature indicate that the mating time is not far away now and in February foxes that normally are active in dusk can be seen moving about in broad daylight, one or two or even three creatures together …
