Oak with buzzard and magpie
On the home page of the bird of the year and in the e-biodiversity:
already pleasantly many buzzard observations have accumulated
Common buzzard observations :

Rough-legged buzzard observations :

Soon it will be possible to make a first summary for rough-legged buzzards.
In addition to distribution and abundance we try to collect some more information about our buzzards, for instance what habitats they prefer for hunting for prey.
On the buzzard observation form :

there is space for entries in the activity and habitat boxes, plus also a box for more details where information can be noted about the birds as well as their activities and habitats.
In the E-biodiversity more detailed information can likewise be entered in the box for remarks although it is not very often used.
This year please add at least in case of buzzards more detailed information about the activities and habitats of the birds If possible
- Activity: for instance: sitting, flying, hovering (i e certain prey hunting), attacking prey etc.
- Habitat: examples field or pasture, if possible specified, for instance winter oilseed rape field, ploughed field, harvested grain field or cut / uncut grass etc, as precisely as conditions allow – after all one cannot see under the snow.
It would be splendid if there could be as much benefit as possible from each observation – for our knowledge as well as perhaps for the habitats of the birds.
Wishing all exciting buzzard observations!
