According to folk traditions the abundance of rowan berries would predict a stormy season. The white-tailed eagles too feel uncomfortable with going on with getting the nest “grow” in such weather and why hurry anyway, but from early morning on Friday building work went on for four hours.  Even in so-called warm winters we have seen the first egg in WTE nests only just after Women’s day; in a full clutch there are from one to three eggs.

 

In the coastal areas, larger islands, western Estonia and around Lake Peipus and Emajõgi river about a quarter of a thousand white-tailed eagle pairs will settle down to nest this year. Young birds roam around in Estonia and neighbouring countries for 5 years at least, only after that the powerful birds will achieve sexual maturity and of course life experience.
