In early morning Klaus brought Klaara a ”mouse” –  some l

kind of mouse or vole , we will write about that in the next few days and about everything else too that pertains to the menu of the tawny owls.

 

At about 7.30 a m Klaara showed us the fourth egg, laid today.

 

 

Both under the nest hollow of the tawny owls and in the nest we can see dark pellets: they contain mouse hairs, bones, teeth – everything that the bird cannot digest is expelled from the digestive tract by vomiting. Tawny owls often expel the pellets on flying out from the nest hollow: these droppings are a few inches long and up to an inch in diameter.
