A look at the nest life of the tawny owls
Daytime view of Klaara’s nest log
During the past week Klaara has left the nest late in evening ablout 10 o’clock and in early morning at about 6 o’clock – limbs need stretching, feathers airing and all other activities that belong to a living body must be seen to. Klaus brings rodents hunted in the dark to the nest, hopefully many have seen all this taking place accompanied by the ”talking” between the owls.
The egg-laying dates: March 4th, then 6th, 9th, 11th and 15th. According to literature tawny owls start incubating with the laying of the first egg, and the incubation period lasts 28 days.
According to the observations from our web camera it has taken a little longer to the hatching of the first tawny owl chick but the early spring weather has also been very varied.
By April 1st, 4 weeks have passed since Klaara’s first egg was laid, we will see if there are surprises for viewers in the evening…
