Usually ospreys have 2-3 eggs in the nest, seldom 4 or more.

 

Ospreys sometimes build their nests quite close to each other compared to other eagle species. The smallest distance between nests has been about one kilometer. Currently up to 70 osprey pairs nest in Estonia, but half a century ago they were on the verge of disappearing: there were just five brooding pairs.
